Husqvarna Automower vs. Mammotion LUBA
Husqvarna Automower and Mammotion LUBA are both autonomous robotic lawn mowers compared here on lawn coverage, terrain handling, cutting performance, navigation technology and deployment requirements.

Introduction
Husqvarna Automower and Mammotion LUBA are two different families of autonomous robotic lawn-mowers that can mow the lawn on a schedule, controlled via app, and drive by itself. The core difference is how their systems map out the lawn, deal with different types of terrain, and handle installation.
Husqvarna Automower has a wide range, including models with EPOS satellite-based virtual boundaries, boundary wires, and some models with all-wheel-drive. Mammotion LUBA has been designed with a focus on wire-free mowing and all-wheel drive, while recent LUBA models have integrated LiDAR, RTK and vision-based navigation. The optimal solution depends on lawn size, slope, shape and the most suitable installation options for the garden.

| Metric | Husqvarna Automower | Mammotion LUBA |
|---|---|---|
| Robot type | Autonomous robotic lawn mower | Wire-free, all-wheel-drive robotic lawn mower |
| Best-fit use cases | Residential lawns and selected commercial turf applications, depending on model | Residential lawns with slopes, uneven terrain and multiple mowing zones |
| Lawn coverage | Current residential iQ models cover approximately 0.5–2 acres; capacity varies by model and mowing pattern | LUBA 3 AWD models cover approximately 1,500–10,000 m², depending on model |
| Cutting width | Typically 24 cm on the cited Automower iQ models | 40 cm on the cited LUBA AWD models |
| Maximum slope | Up to 70% on selected AWD models; other models have lower limits | Up to 80% on cited LUBA AWD models |
| Navigation / mapping | EPOS virtual boundaries on compatible models; physical boundary-wire options also available | Newer models combine LiDAR, RTK positioning and vision; exact configuration varies |
| Cutting-height adjustment | Model-dependent; up to approximately 100 mm on selected models | 25–70 mm on standard versions or 55–100 mm on selected H versions in the LUBA 2 AWD range |
| Charging / operation | Automatic docking and recharging; runtime varies by model | Automatic recharging; mowing time and charging duration vary by model |
| Distinctive capabilities | Established product range, app control, virtual-boundary options and selected AWD configurations | Wider cutting deck on cited models, all-wheel drive and wire-free mapping |
| Key limitation / caveat | Boundary method, slope capability and coverage differ substantially across models | Higher headline slope and coverage figures are model-specific and depend on terrain and installation conditions |

How They Compare
Operational role: Husqvarna Automower is a general robotic-mowing platform with multiple products for various lawn sizes, installation environments and some commercial turf offerings. Mammotion LUBA is specifically targeted at autonomous mowing for larger, more demanding or sloped residential terrains. Use the same size classes for comparison to each other and focus on similar applications, not the products as one machine.
Terrain handling and cutting ability: The AWD models we have selected for the Automower 435 iQ AWD and 435X AWD are rated to slopes of 70%; for the Mammotion LUBA AWD models the rating is 80%. These are maximum manufacturer-stated slopes, not to be interpreted as guarantees of flawless mow quality on all slopes. Factors such as surface traction and grass quality and growth rate, slop orientation and boundary placement, and ground wetness can all impact mowe quality. All the mentioned LUBA AWD models have a cutting width of 40 cm; the cited Automower iQ models have a width of 24 cm. A wider deck potentially cuts down on mowing passes, but the result is largely a function of the shape of the lawn and related operating conditions.
Navigation and installation: Husqvarna provides EPOS virtual-boundary systems for supported models, and some Automower products utilize physical boundary wires. Setup and satellite coverage needs vary with chosen system. Mammotion's newer LUBA 3 AWD merges LiDAR, NetRTK positioning and vision – wire-free mapping – which may ease setup where appropriate positioning coverage is accessible, but amount of obstacles, tree cover, layout and signal conditions need evaluating ahead of installation. Neither system can be relied upon to perform uniformly across all gardens.
Coverage and endurance: The residential iQ series is now available in Husqvarna machines rated for approximately 0.5, 1 and 2 acres, in addition to AWD models available for more specific terrain needs. Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD series offers models rated for approximately 1,500, 3,000 and 5,000 m2, older LUBA generations, and other options. Rated lawn coverage should not be confused with coverage of mowed lawns in a single battery cycle; mowing schedule, grass growth, interval between charges and terrain all impact how long it takes to mow a lawn.
Control and daily management: Both families support app-enabled control and scheduled mowing. Compatible Husqvarna models can use virtual mapping and zone management. LUBA models support mapped mowing areas and zone setup. Check the handling of narrow passages, no-go areas, separate lawn sections, obstacle detection, firmware updates and remote access on each model before making a decision.
Important Qualification
Husqvarna Automower: The maximum slope, lawn size, cutting height and boundary technology depend on the model. Should not be used to rate the entire Automower range. Do not consider 70% slope rating for selected AWD machines.
Mammotion LUBA: The 80% slope rating and 40 cm width of cut are for a LUBA AWD. Different LUBA generations and navigation systems for Mammotion LUBA.
Performance and installation: Factory ratings are not interchangeable unless identical models are tested under similar conditions. For more information check local availability, installation, service support and warranty conditions before you buy.
Summary
Husqvarna Automower suits a specific model, boundary configuration, coverage, and service options for the land and owner that aligns with the installation preferences. Mammotion LUBA may be the best choice with all-wheel drive, wider cutting width and no wire maps, especially if the lawn is slope-prone or has multiple zones.
This is a fit-for-purpose comparison, not a performance comparison. Final published winner: list the actual models, for example Husqvarna Automower 435 iQ AWD vs Mammotion LUBA 3 AWD, and double-check current regional specifications. Conduct an on-site test if the grassy area has sloped terrain or if the grass is very challenging.
