BRITISH COLUMBIA: Robots brought ballet moves and martial arts to Prince George Public Library in British Columbia, giving visitors a close look at machines that GoGlobal AI Tech hopes will eventually find work in the region. 

The company’s library appearances featured a robot dog and a robot performing ballet, according to CKPG Today’s coverage. An earlier report, described a humanoid walking, balancing and performing a kung fu kick before a crowd. 

Behind the performances, GoGlobal has a business pitch. Founder Helen Hong told CKPG that the Vancouver-based company plans to open an office in Prince George and wants to speak with local industries about tasks robots might handle. 

Hong said those conversations need to start with the people doing the work. 

“The expert is not a programmer. The technician is the one that is in the industry,” she told CKPG. 

For visitors, the immediate attraction was simpler: seeing robotic movement up close, from a four-legged machine to a ballet performance. For potential buyers, the unanswered questions concern what those machines can reliably do beyond a rehearsed routine. 

The reviewed reports do not specify how the performances were controlled or how much operator assistance they required. They also provide no opening date for the proposed Prince George office.
