TOOWOOMBA: Auto Brew using a robot has opened an overnight beverage service in Toowoomba, Australia, that prepares hot and iced drinks in roughly two minutes, according to The Chronicle. 

As per the business model, it is aimed at people whose working hours fall outside the usual daytime café schedule. Paramedics, hospital employees and other night-shift workers are among the customers Auto Brew hopes to attract.  

For those workers, the service offers a way to buy a freshly prepared drink while they are still on the clock, including during the late-night and early-morning hours when many cafés are closed. 

The reported $5 menu extends beyond standard coffee options to include matcha and chai. Customers can also customise their drinks with toppings such as Biscoff and crushed Oreos, giving the menu a dessert-style element alongside more traditional hot beverage. The relatively low price is intended to make the service accessible to workers looking for a quick drink during a break. 

The robot handles the drink-preparation process, which is designed to reduce the need for a barista to make each order manually. Customers place an order, select their drink and toppings, and wait until the automated system prepares the beverage.  

The extent of human involvement in operating the venue, restocking ingredients, cleaning equipment, and keeping the service running overnight remains unclear. 

For its intended customers, the overnight opening hours may be the main attraction. A robot-operated café can potentially provide more consistent access to drinks during periods when staffing a conventional café would be difficult or expensive.  

It also gives Auto Brew a way to distinguish itself from daytime coffee shops and position the business around convenience and automation. The roughly two-minute preparation time is a reported estimate, rather than an independently tested measure of service speed.
