It is a wheeled robot that is basically designed to perform repetitive tasks or those that require a large number of human workers. Factories, as we all know, are facing workforce shortages these days. And to fill this gap, Robot.com has built R-noid, which will contribute greatly to the purpose. 

The robot is being offered through a Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model. What that means is companies won’t be required to pay large amounts of money upfront to use this technology. As per Robot.com, it’d take only around 8 to 12 weeks for customers to move from an initial site visit to having a fully operational R-noid working autonomously. 

R-noid is created in such a way that it can perform a variety of tasks in workplaces such as restaurants/hotels, warehouses, etc. The robot uses two arms to perform tasks. Each arm offers 7 degrees of freedom and can carry up to 4 kilograms. The robot also includes a flexible torso with 4 degrees of freedom. Thanks to this design, it can work from ground level and reach up to a height of 1.9 meters or 6.2 feet.

The company also made sure that the robot is friendly and approachable. And to achieve this, they worked with Japanese design studio Yukai Engineering. This studio is famous for creating robots that are emotionally expressive and can communicate with humans. 

Powered by advanced artificial intelligence from Physical Intelligence, R-noid can understand instructions and analyze its surroundings. Not only this, but it can even adapt to changing conditions. This means R-noid can perform a variety of tasks without the user having to reprogram it time and again.

Built for Difficult and Repetitive Work

R-noid is designed for jobs that many businesses struggle to find employees for. These jobs mostly include repetitive tasks that require a lot of effort and time. Companies claim that such positions see a higher employee turnover, because of which it becomes super difficult for employers to run smooth operations.

Robot.com claims that R-noid will prove to be super beneficial for manufacturing operations as well as multiple industries, including healthcare, hospitality, warehousing, food services, entertainment, and a lot more. 

The launch of R-noid is supported by several technology and robotics companies. Robot.com has partnered with organizations including NVIDIA Robotics, Astribot, FieldAI, Formic, Physical Intelligence, Robots for America, and Yukai Engineering.

These partnerships provide the technologies that power the robot’s hardware, artificial intelligence systems, deployment process, and user interaction capabilities.

R-noid joins Robot.com’s existing lineup of robots, which includes:

• R-kiwi+ for advertising applications
• R-cargo for transportation and logistics

All of these robots operate on the same software platform developed by the company.
