BEIJING — The Shijingshan district government says it has finished a technological upgrade of what it claims is Beijing's first humanoid robot data-training facility. Based at the Sci-Fi Industry Innovation Center in Shougang Park, Shijingshan Embodied Intelligence Training Center covers more than 1,500 square meters. It was constructed and led by Luster Light Tech and Zhongguancun Tongli with several other companies involved, according to the district government. It first started operating in March 2025, under a different operator, but the government said the operator had since moved out and the platform needed to be rebuilt. 

"The upgraded training center is based on 4D Gaussian light-field capture and 'world model' simulation capture systems that can record all movements, deformations of objects and lights, and generate high-fidelity training data for household applications, including cleaning, cooking and home care, as well as industrial scenarios such as sewing, packing and product assembly,"the district government said. 
 
It also makes use of captured data to generate further virtual scenarios through a world model, an effort designed to reduce the expensive and rare real-world data collection. 
 
The first phase of the training platform reportedly now has around 270 functional robots generating up to 20 million pieces of data annually. The second phase has over 100 full-size, bipedal humanoid robots generating over 6 million pieces of application data annually, based on company needs, while the third phase is focused on tactile and multimodal sensing for precise manufacturing tasks, the government said. 

Shi Guangyao, the North China regional head of a tech partner, Beijing Yuanke Shijie, was quoted by the district government as saying that the data created by the newer approach of capturing worker motion with motion-capturing gear produces better quality data to be applied to various types of robots.  
 
The district government said it has more than 100 artificial intelligence companies and more than 40 humanoid robot companies as it seeks to develop the robot and artificial intelligence industry as a key industry.
