Agility Expands Humanoid Rollout With GXO to Two More US States

GXO Logistics intends to employ Digit robots in its facilities in North Carolina and Tennessee in early 2027, extending its existing commercial collaboration with the company.

GREENWICH, Conn. – GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics will be expanding the current agreement for the deployment of Digit humanoid robots at two more U.S. facilities on top of those in Georgia.

According to an October 26 announcement from the firms, the robots are set to start work at GXO facilities located in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, starting early next year.

Digit robots will be employed to execute repetitive handling material tasks to assist with e-commerce fulfillment. Initially, Digit 4 model robots will be deployed, to be followed by Digit 5 upon their availability.

This comes following a multiyear robot-as-a-service agreement signed in June 2024 between the firms, in which GXO started utilizing Digit robots at its Flowery Branch, Georgia facility.

The robots have thus far moved over 100,000 storage totes at that facility, which also includes existing warehouse automation technology.

Initially, Digit was tested in Georgia's GXO facility in late 2023 before transitioning to the commercial phase. It features the use of Agility Arc, which is a cloud-based platform to manage robot fleets and incorporate them in warehouse operations.

Also, Agility announced that Digit has recorded over 65,000 hours of operational time in its commercial activities and customer programs. This refers to several operations, not only in GXO's Georgia warehouse.

The company launched Digit 5 in September as a new product that is an upgraded version of the robot which is designed to operate among humans and perform a greater number of industrial functions.

Agility will be preparing for going public via business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The deal is slated for closing in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to closing conditions and approvals.

The number of robots involved in the additional facilities, the financial details of the extended partnership or the transition date to Digit 5 were not provided by the companies.
