Chinese robotics company AgiBot and tourism operator Chimelong Group are preparing to open what the companies describe as the world’s first large-scale embodied AI theme park at Chimelong Spaceship Park in Hengqin, Zhuhai.

The project is scheduled to open Sept. 24, with more than 300 AgiBot robots expected to operate across the park. Reports citing the company say the robots will be deployed at more than 100 interaction points covering entertainment and performances, science education, visitor guidance, retail, companion services, hotel operations and sports.

The scale marks a shift from isolated robot demonstrations toward deployment across multiple visitor-facing functions inside an operating theme park. Chimelong describes Spaceship Park as a large indoor theme park with attractions spanning entertainment, science education and interactive experiences.

AgiBot and Chimelong announced their strategic partnership Aug. 23. AgiBot said the agreement would explore embodied AI applications in science education, guided interpretation, parades, live performances and hotel services. The companies also planned a joint research institute focused on embodied intelligence in the culture and tourism sector.

The opening program is expected to include a large-scale human-robot opening dance and a robot aerial acrobatics performance. Reports also say the park will feature robots based on AgiBot models that recently won medals at the World Humanoid Robot Games.

People’s Daily Online reported on Sept. 21 that the park had opened on Sept. 20 and that more than 300 robots were deployed on opening day. That conflicts with multiple reports published Sept. 20-21, including reports citing AgiBot, which identify Sept. 24 as the formal opening date. AgiBot’s own Aug. 23 announcement confirms the partnership and project but does not establish that the park opened Sept. 20.

The distinction is relevant because the project is being presented as a sustained operating environment rather than a temporary robotics exhibition. Reports also say Spaceship Park had received more than 10 million visitors since opening, although that figure has not been independently verified in the available sources.

AgiBot says the project will put embodied AI into real-world tourism applications including interaction, guidance, entertainment and services. However, the available reports do not provide independent measurements of robot reliability, operating costs, uptime or task performance at the park.

The deployment will therefore provide a large public setting in which to assess how consistently robots can perform across different visitor-facing roles. The announced scale and application range are documented, but sustained operational performance remains to be established.
