The Tesla Optimus (Optimus Gen 3) is Tesla's next-generation general-purpose humanoid robot designed for manufacturing, logistics, and future domestic assistance. Standing 173 cm tall and weighing approximately 57 kg, it combines autonomous bipedal locomotion, advanced whole-body control, vision-based AI derived from Tesla's Full Self-Driving technology, and highly dexterous 22-degree-of-freedom hands capable of increasingly complex manipulation tasks. Initially intended for repetitive and hazardous work inside Tesla factories, Optimus is also being developed for future applications in logistics, commercial services, and household assistance. Tesla's long-term strategy is to manufacture the robot at automotive scale, targeting millions of units annually.
