About the CARMA II

autonomous ground robot designed for radiological surveying and health-physics monitoring in nuclear facilities. The robot autonomously surveys defined areas for alpha, beta and gamma radiation, creates radiation heatmaps and uses LiDAR, depth cameras and radiation-aware navigation to detect and avoid both physical obstacles and radioactive contamination. Its autonomous re-planning capability reduces the risk of spreading contamination while limiting the need for personnel to enter hazardous environments.
