Nscale, a London-based AI cloud provider, has agreed to supply humanoid robotics company Figure with at least $3.5 billion in computing capacity, a deal the two companies say could grow beyond $6 billion, according to a Sept. 3 announcement.  
 
Nscale is also making an undisclosed equity investment in Figure and becoming its preferred compute provider in a move indicating that the humanoid robot race is becoming both an AI and hardware race.  
 
Figure is reserving training capacity for its Helix models before humanoids have reached mass commercial deployment. 

 
The deal centers on Nvidia's upcoming Vera Rubin chips, with up to 100,000 GPUs potentially deployed at a data center Nscale is building in Barstow, Texas, starting in the second half of 2027.  
 
The computing power is meant to train and run Helix, Figure's foundation model. Nvidia, which is supplying the chips, has already invested in both companies separately: in Figure's funding round at a $39 billion valuation last September and in another round that valued Nscale at $14.6 billion.
