Asmech Starts Selling $6,999 Elephant Robotics Cobot in Japan
The Japanese distributor is offering the six-axis myCobot Pro 630 for light industrial automation, expanding local access to a robot already sold internationally.
TOKYO -- With Asmech, the automation supplier, now selling the myCobot Pro 630 in Japan, Elephant Robotics gains a local sales channel for its six‑axis arm targeting research, education and light industrial automation.
Asmech began sales Oct. 7 (Japanese-language report); according to Elephant Robotics, the myCobot Pro 630 has a 2 kilograms payload, 630-milimeter reach and repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.1 milimeters.
Elephant Robotics has been selling the myCobot Pro 630 internationally for several years, with a 2024 product brochure already listing the same core specifications. As of now, the company's online store lists the arm at $6,999 and says units are in stock for shipment from China.
The arm supports ROS 1 and ROS 2, and languages such as Python and C++; communication: TCP/IP, Modbus, EtherNet/IP; hardware connections: USB, Wi‑Fi, Ethernet. Elephant Robotics describes the platform as suitable for picking, material handling and light automation.
A range of end effectors include grippers, suction systems, a camera module, and a five‑finger dexterous hand. The latter connects straight to the arm and provides six controllable joints, the maker’s documentation states.
Elephant Robotics has traditionally targeted education and research with smaller, relatively inexpensive robot arms. Asmech describes the Pro 630 as part of the manufacturer's move toward industrial automation, although its 2-kg payload limits it to relatively light handling tasks.
Asmech's announcement did not identify Japanese customers, disclose sales targets or say whether any Pro 630 units are deployed in Japanese factories.
