Viabot Raises $24 Million to Expand Outdoor Cleaning Robots

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Viabot said it raised $24 million in a Series A funding round to expand its outdoor cleaning robot business and develop additional products for commercial properties.

Walden International led the round, with participation from CDIB Capital Group and Stalwart Ventures. Existing investors Baseline Ventures, Era Ventures, Morado Ventures and SOSV also participated, Viabot’s reported Sept. 17.

The company said the investment brought its total funding to $43 million. Viabot did not disclose its valuation or how much equity the investors received.

Viabot plans to use the money to expand its sales and engineering teams, accelerate product development and improve its robot-as-a-service offering. Under that model, customers pay to use the equipment and related services rather than purchase the robots outright.

The company’s Viabot One platform is designed to sweep outdoor areas, collect debris and perform limited property-monitoring tasks. Viabot says its robot uses cameras, lidar, depth sensors and differential GPS to navigate commercial properties. It can return to a docking station, recharge, change its own battery and empty collected debris into a standard waste bin.

Viabot says the machine can collect debris measuring up to about 25 centimeters and operate for 12 to 24 hours using automated battery changes. The company also offers an optional monitoring service that it says can detect loitering and track designated property assets.

The startup claims its robots operate across 25 million square feet of commercial property in eight US states. It says its customers include Fortune 500 retailers, universities and commercial real estate operators but has not publicly identified them.

Viabot also says the system has been trained on more than five billion square feet of real-world multimodal data. Neither that figure nor the company’s operating footprint has been independently verified.

Viabot did not disclose its fleet size, revenue, customer retention rate or service pricing. It also did not provide financial records supporting its claim that its deployments have achieved unit-level profitability. The company publicly introduced its robotics platform in 2021 after raising a $6.1 million seed round.
