Ultra Raises $50M Series A to Scale Warehouse Robots
The Brooklyn startup reports its OP1 robots completed packing over 500,000 orders, while Physical Intelligence's models continue testing in real warehouses.
NEW YORK -- Ultra Robotics has raised a $50 million Series A led by Framework Ventures to expand its warehouse robot business, bringing the Brooklyn startup’s total funding to $62 million.
The company announced the financing alongside an expanded relationship with Physical Intelligence, the AI research company developing general-purpose models for robot control. Framework Ventures confirmed that it led the round, with Y Combinator participating. Ultra previously raised a $12 million seed round.
Ultra builds Operator, or OP1, a stationary dual-arm robot designed for repetitive warehouse tasks including packing, sorting and kitting. The company lists active deployments in five US cities. Its robots have now packed more than 500,000 customer orders.
Ultra is also using robot foundation models developed by Physical Intelligence in customer environments. A reported test using Physical Intelligence’s π0.6 model reached 96.4% autonomy during a full eight-hour shift, yet required human intervention to address failures.
The figure reflects a single documented shift rather than a fleetwide average, and it remains unaudited by independent parties.
Ultra’s hardware provides Physical Intelligence an opportunity to test its models through repetitive work in real-world settings. Physical Intelligence aims to partner with companies that operate robots in real-world settings so deployment data can improve later model development.
OP1 has two arms, each arm rated to handle 4.5 kilograms. Ultra sells its robot systems via a service arrangement rather than requiring customers to purchase the hardware. Its website advertises a three-month trial before a longer commitment.
The company chose not to disclose revenue figures, the number of deployed robots, or the financial terms of its partnership with Physical Intelligence.
