Philadelphia, USA -- SOMA Robotics has introduced the Soma One, a desktop dual‑arm research robot priced from $8,999, publicly disclosing the cost of a platform intended for bimanual manipulation and physical-AI research.

The Philadelphia-based company lists three configurations of the fixed-base robot with early-bird prices: Base at $8,999, Data at $10,999 and Research at $13,499. Discount applies to the first 10 units and the standard price for the Base configuration is $9,999. The manufacturer styles the product name “soma one” in lowercase.

The Base version comes with two six‑axis arms mounted on a fixed tabletop platform, giving 12 degrees of freedom. SOMA lists a maximum payload per arm of 1.5 kg, reach 620 mm, with control at 500 Hz.
The least expensive configuration does not include cameras or onboard computing. It provides the arms and body along with the control software development kit, drivers, calibration tools and simulation models. Customers must supply their own Linux computer, cameras and other components needed for their research setup.

The Data and Research configurations include additional equipment and software intended for robot data collection and model training. SOMA lists two wrist cameras and one scene depth camera for those configurations.

The Soma One desktop is intended as a research platform rather than a robot for routine industrial production. SOMA says researchers can use the system for coordinated manipulation tasks such as grasping objects, moving them between grippers, and running repeatable experiments.

Customers can order the robots, with delivery in four to six weeks. Orders are currently limited to the U.S., with international ordering not yet available.

SOMA says prices include duties and shipping within the continental U.S., although some destinations and delivery requirements are quoted separately. The manufacturer the manufacturer hasn't shared sales or production figures.
