RoboParty Targets Q4 Production for Open-Source RP1 Humanoid

The Shanghai company says it will progressively release hardware, motion-control, simulation and training resources around RP1.

PITTSBURGH — RoboParty has detailed plans to open more of the hardware and software stack behind its RP1 bipedal humanoid, extending an open-source strategy that already includes mechanical, electronics and control resources for an earlier robot.
The Shanghai-based company publicly showed RP1, also called ROBOTO 01, last week at a Pittsburgh event. RoboParty said Oct. 3 that it plans to progressively release RP1 motion-control systems, simulation environments, software development kits, training tools and PartyOS.

The company plans broader hardware and software releases in October and will begin a mass-production program in the fourth quarter. RoboParty has not disclosed pricing, production capacity or a delivery date for customer units.

RoboParty calls RP1 the world's first 'full‑stack open‑source' bipedal humanoid, but 'full‑stack' has no standard definition, so the claim is hard to verify.

RoboParty says RP1 can produce peak joint torque of up to 160 N·m and serves as a platform for dynamic-motion research, embodied‑AI model training, and data collection. At IROS in Pittsburgh, visitors could push and kick the robot as it tried to maintain balance. Those interactions served as demonstrations rather than formal performance tests or deployments.

The open-source strategy has more concrete evidence behind it. RoboParty's public GitHub organization already hosts hardware files, software and development tools for its RPO, or ROBOTO ORIGIN, platform. Its RPO hardware repository hosts open-source hardware and software for the ROBOTO ORIGIN (RPO) platform, including mechanical designs, PCB schematics and bills of materials.

RoboParty states RP1 builds on earlier work with Romomo actuators and PartyOS, and lists a public RP1 repository which covers open hardware, an SDK and locomotion control; further releases are planned.
