Maven Robotics Plans 250 Industrial Robots After $100 Million Raise
The startup says as many as eight wheeled, dual-arm robots are already handling mixed pallets for an unnamed consumer-products company.

SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Maven Robotics has raised $100 million in Series A funding to manufacture 250 industrial robots, expanding a small deployment that the startup says is already handling goods across multiple daily shifts.
The financing came from RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures, XTX Ventures and other investors, the California company said Sept. 10. Maven did not identify a conventional lead investor, disclose its valuation or say whether the full amount had been received in a single closing.
Founded in 2024 by brothers Hamza and Khalid Derbas, Maven is initially targeting mixed-case palletizing and tote handling in warehouses. Its robots use wheeled bases and two arms fitted with vacuum grippers to build store-specific pallets from cases arriving at distribution centers.
Chief Executive Hamza Derbas told TechCrunch that as many as eight robots are working for an unnamed Fortune 250 consumer-products company and a few other partners. He said the machines operate for 16 hours a day with uptime of at least 99%.
The customer, locations and commercial terms were not disclosed, leaving Maven’s operating figures without independent customer confirmation. TechCrunch reported seeing robots in Maven’s training facility and a live video feed showing two machines at a customer site.
Maven says each robot can lift as much as 30 kilograms, travel at up to 16 kilometers per hour and connect with warehouse-management systems. The company plans to use the funding to produce 250 third-generation machines and start designing a fourth-generation platform.
Although Maven describes its system as general purpose, its current work remains concentrated in defined material-handling tasks. The company plans to expand into more complex handling, assembly and fabrication, but Derbas acknowledged that some of the required manipulation capabilities do not yet exist.
Maven’s approach is to add skills task by task using operational data collected from its robots. That differs from attempts to develop one foundation model that can control machines across many jobs without extensive retraining.
The startup expects its fleet to accumulate more than 100,000 hours of autonomous operation by the end of 2026 and one million hours by the end of 2027. Those figures are targets, and Maven has not disclosed signed orders or a delivery schedule for the planned 250 robots.
